WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of tlie "Waipa County Council was held at Oliaupo on Tuesday last; there being present: Messrs. John Fisher (chairman), J. Ryburn; S. Steele, F. J. McKinder; J. Bell, Tickers, D. Fullerton, and P. O'Connor, ~ Supervisor's Report: Mr! W. H. Mandeho reported t ,that little had ( beeh done on the roads , during the past, mohtlf. in consequence of the rainy weather. A new, larger and stronger culvert had been put in on Rico's Road; the woodwork was completed, but not the earthwork. ( The season had arrived when it would be..well that the matte* of new works for the opining season received consideration. Tenders had been called, as directed, for. the steel bridge over the Mangapiko, and for. the erection of the bridge near Innesfallen. The report was adopted. Tenders: The following tenders wore received for tlie steel bridge at Pitbngia:—J. Burns and Co., Auckland, £352; W. Anderson and Co;, Christohurch. £357. The former tender was accepted. The price does not include the erection, of the. bridge, for which separate', tenders will be called. W. Napier's tender, of £23 9s fed for the erection of a bridge at Irih»sfallen was accepted, the Council to supply the material: Cambridge High.Level Bridge: The,to.wh clerk of Cambridge wrote, stating .that the allocations for the erection of the cantilever bridge,had, been, agreed, to, and enclosing a copy of the term? of agreement. Subsidies: The Treasury .no.tifi.ed, that £505 8s bad been paid, to the credit of the Council. The Land and Income :Tax. Department wrote .stating thftt. £'6u had been paid into the Council's funds. . . ... „ .__ . Opening a Road: Mr. G. Cairns' application to open a rOad frdm the, OhaupoHamilton Road to section 100 was referred to.the supervisor. , ■, , . ■ Local Bodies' - Franchise: The Stratford County Council forwarded a protest against the utterance of the Preriiier intimating that he.intended to,extend the. franchise for the elections of the local, bodies. The Council resolved to support the protest. Closing a Road: Mr. A. Swarbriek, the Council's ( solicitor, submitted., 4 a lengthy opinion on the question of closing a road at Frankton, and it. was decided.to write the Minister-for Lands. oil the matter.. Slaughterhouse License,;... M*'-.. M. Turnwald, of Ohaupo, was granted a slaughterhouse license!
