Ocfc Hamilton correspondent writes: — News lias reached here that the tobuiiga craze is raging at a place called Puketapu, on the opposite side oMke Waikato River to Rangiriri. Eight deaths are reported to have taker- placs> quite recently. Two of the victims had been treated in the Waikato Hospital; they left that institution, and proceeded straight for treatment by the tohunga. Patients are flocking to this •mart from all parts of the district, mostly -women and young girls suffering from internal complaints. His mode of treatment of his patients is stated, on the authority of an old Maori, to be most disgusting. Urgent and searching inquiry is necessary, with a, view of putting an end to the practice.
