PAKVRANGA HUNT CLUB'S ANNUAL BALL.

The annual ball given by the members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club to the farmers of the district took place at the Public Hall, Otahuhu, last evening, and, as usual, proved a great success, there r>eing a very large attendance. The hall was tastefully decorated with flags and evergreens, and the general arrangements, which were carried out by a strong and active committee, were all that could be desired, nothing essential to the thorough enjoyment of the function being left wanting. A large marquee, which was erected outside the hall, served the purpose of a supper-room. Here also the arrangements were of a most complete character, and reflected great credit on the Ladies' Committee who were entrusted with the oharge of this important department. A great deal of time had been devoted to the decoration of the tables and the interior of the marquee, and the repast provided was in every way in keeping with the excellence of the surroundings. The music for the dancing, which was kept up till a late hour, was supplied by Meredith's band, and Messrs. E. D. O'Rorke and H. Moody acted as M.C.'s. The prizes won at the point-to-point steeplechase and last Saturday s sports were presented during the evening by Mrs. O'Rorke. The guests were welcomed in a neat speech by the master (Mr. E. D. O'Rorke). He expressed his pleasure at the attendance of so many of the farmers of the district and their families, and acknowledged the generosity always shown by them to the club in regard to the use of their properties. The following comprised the General Committee:—Messrs. E. D. O'Rorke, H. Bullock-Webster, H. T. Gorrie, _W. McLaughlin, H. O. Nolan, W. P™al, C. E. Purchas, H. Moody, W. R. Bloomfield, H. C. Tonks, F. Waller, W. A. Carminer, B. Lewis and H. 0. Clark, the two last-named acting as hon. secretaries. The Ladies Committee included the following:-Mes-dames E. D. O'Rorke, E. H. Kelly, W. R.
