MOUNT ROSKILL BAPTIST CHURCH.
The opening services in connection with the Mount Roskill Baptist Church were continued hast evening, the Rev. Mr. North presiding, The chairman and the Revs. Jos. Clark, W. Day, Benning, and Fraser, extended words of welcome to the new pastor, the Rev. Ernest A. Kir wood. Mr. Wkitton (secretary, of the Board. of Management) gave a brief resume leading up to the building of the church and the call of the pastor. Mr. Baker (superintendent of the Sunday-school) also spoke. The .6ev. E. A. Kirwood, on. rising to respond, received a most enthusiastic reception. He said that he was very grateful to those present for their cordial welcome. He deeply appreciated 1 their kindness. He had heard on the other side of the great kindness and hospitality of New Zealauders, and his expectations, though high, had been fully realised. He was honoured at being chosen to serve as pastor of this new church, which was an offshoot of the Tabernacle, and would therefore, have for I its foundation members those who had been trained under capable pastors and leaders. He and his wife would do their utmost for the welfare of the community, and gladly co-operate with all for the advancement of even- good movement. He was a Baptist, and as such hoped to be able to help in the establishment of a vigorous Baptist Church in that rapidlygrowing district. Durinji the evening solos were rendered by Miss Eliingham and Mr. Jas. 'Phillips.
