[raoM OTTfi OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] CAMBRIDGE. A CHILDREN'S entertainment was given in the Alexandra Kail on Monday evening last, in. aid of St. Andrew's Sunday-school library land. Airs. Pileber's juvenile orchestra con-, tributed two selections, and the Snowdrop minstrel troupe (20 girls prettily attired), three or four part songs. Mr. Fawcett Howe supplied the comic element with, two humorous songs. Misses-Leila Sanders and Eva. Savase danced a very pretty skirt dance, with much gracefulness. Eisrbt. small hoys sang an action song, "Little Donkeys," which caused much merriment. There were several pretty tableaux, which aro always a feature of children's entertainments. Airs. Pileher. Miss Payee, and Miss Bancroft played the accompaniments. The second part was occupied with the production of an operetta, " Inspector for an Hour," th© characters ■. being allotted as under:— Twig (inspector), Mr. J. Richards; the Major's man servant. Mr. W. Madison; Miss Pointer (school mistress). Miss Willis; Mr. Fletcham (truant officer). Mr. K. Court; Johnny Stout, (fat. boy), Fred Hunter. . PAEROA. The annual social under the auspices of the No. 1 Ohinemuri Rilles was held in the Criterion Theatre on Fruhu- evening last. and. notwithstanding the boisterous weather, was well attended. Excellent music was. supplied by Mettarif's Band. The prizes at the euchre tournament were won.bv MissMcQeehin (first). and Miss Shaw (second) and Mr. H. Scarle (first), and Mr. Woods (second). Last Saturday the Paeroa ladies' ; hockey team defeated the Waihou ladies' . hockey team, at Waihou by Ave goals to nil. The goals were obtained by Miss Silcock (three), and Miss B. Kenny (two). Mr. T. Taylor was referee. The Paeroa ladies were most, hospitably entertained by their opponents. Mrs. McAndrew, president of the Paeroa Ladies' Hockey Club, has presented the club with a very handsome banner. '
