Oamaru, one of Otago's principal seaport towns, is illustrated by two fine double-page panoramic, one taken from the post office tower, showing the principal biddings and some of the harbour, the other giving a general view of the town and breakwater. These views are the finest of Oamaru yet published, and convey j an excellent idea of the size and importj ance of the town and harbour. Scenes on the overland route from Ob risi church to Kokitika include some beautiful South Island scenery : the Waitara Freezing Works fire is illustrated by a view of the ruins, and the buildings before the conflagration. The General' Sloc.im disaster, on the Fast River, at New York, by which 1200 lives were lost, comprise views of the earner sinking, and the wreckage after the fire.
