STATEMENT BY FEDERAL POST-MASTER-GENERAL. OFFER TO NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.—Press Aisocfatlon.— (Rsceired Angnit 3, 10.17 p.m.) JlEtßoraira, August 3. > In* the House of Representatives, the Post-master-General (Mr. Mahon) stated that the New Zealand Government had inquired whether Queensland was withdrawing from the Vancouver mail service, and expressing willingness to take it ever if the steamers called at a port in New Zealand instead of Brisbane. The Queensland Government had concurred in the proposal, and the New Zealand Government had been so informed in. February. Nothing further had since been done. The Federal Govern, ment had no intention of abolishing or altering the subsidy or doing away with any other contract. [The Premier of Queensland stated on Monday that he was negotiating with the Government of New Zealand for the transfer of the Vancouver mail service to thin ; colony.]
