VOYAGE TO EAST ABANDONED (Received May 10, 10.45 p.m.) London, May 10. It is announced that the Russian Government has. abandoned its intention of sending to- the Fa? East its . Baltic • fleet, ' which was to have sailed in June or July,
This decision was ' preceded by the announcement that the contracts for coaling the fleet had been cancelled. The ganger of sending the fleet to the Far East was increased by the blocking of Port Arthur. Even if the Japanese had been evaded, the port could not have been used.
