DIRECTORS: HON. EDWIN MITCHELSON DAVID GOLDIE. ESQ., (Messrs. E. Mitchelsou and Co.) (Timber Merchant), W H. SMITH. ESQ., H. M. SMEETON, ESQ., / (Messrs. Smith and Caughey, Ltd.) (H. M. Smeeton, Ltd.), J. C. MACKY, ESQ.. • W. E. HUTCHISON, ESQ.. (Macky, Logan. Steen, and Co.) (Builder and Contractor). ENGINEER: \ JAMES STEWART, ESQ.. (Member Institute Civil Engineers.) BANKERS: ■"■■, SOLICITOR: ; THE BANK OP NEW ZEALAND. J. RANKEN REED, ESQ. SECRETARY AND OFFICES: MR, J. J. MACKY, Victoria Arcade, Auckland., (By whom applications for Shares will be received). This Company is being formed for the purpose of acquiring from the Vendor the sole right, lease, and license for the term of Ninety-Nine Years, to work the extensive coatbeds situated in the Parishes of Pepepe and Whangape, County of Raglan, subject to a royalty of 6d per ton of marketable coal. The area to be acquired is One Thousand Seven Hundred Acres, and is situated about six miles from Huntly, Waikato: The Property to be acquired is a most valuable one, and will, it is confidently believed, turn out to be one of the Richest Coal Mines in New Zealand. MR. THOMAS SNOW, Certificated Coalmine Manager, says:— would be impossible t» convey to you or anyone whom it may concern, a correct idea of the value of the find. ... I found a seam of coal cropping out 14 to 16 feet high ... of the very best quality, and anything that I can say will convey but a faint idea of the magnitude of the find. . . . It is easily lighted, gives a great heat, no sulphur or bad smell, and leaves a very small quantity of brown ash." With regard to the quantity of coal available. Captain W. Blanch Brain. Mining Engineer, says:— believe the seam extends through. THE WHOLE OP THE PROPERTY. It is visible in a great many places ... in some places from 15 to 20 feet deep. . . ■ THE QUALITY OP THE COAL IS EXCELLENT: Sound. Hard, and Clean, and very free from impurities." MR. JAMES STEWART, the well-known Civil Engineer, says:—'* Coal—l had opportunities of closely examining this in use, and of comparing it with the other Brown Coals in the Waikato Basin. My experience of the hydrous coals extends now over 42 year 3, first as used in portable engines, afterwards in river steamers and locomotives, and continuously as a household coal. . . . And from observation of the actual burning. I have no hesitation in placing its value as fuel as ABOVE ALL OF MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OF THE HYDROUS COALS." Then, again, as success will depend not only upon the quantity and quality of the coal, but also on the Cost of Opening and Working the mine, Mr. Stewart gives the utmost assurance upon this very necessary consideration, and says: — " You have the Enormous Advantage here of being able to get into the coal at the lower levels of the field. The difficulties encountered in all the Auckland Coalfields, within my knowledge, have been due to working from the upper levels, which were naturally the outcrops; and your Field is Unique in this respect, inasmuch as you can open, out and work, level free, with, certainly Ten Thousand Tons of Coal available from every Acre of the seam above your main adit. When, it Is considered that this means an average of only ten feet thickness of seam, the enormous value of the conditions will be forcibly in view. The location of any of the visible outcrops may therefore not be the heist for opening .... but wherever it may bo decided on, It should bo the result of careful study .... and full advantage taken of the EXTREMELY ECONOMICAL CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH THIS COAL CAN BE BROUGHT TO MARKET." CAPTAIN BRAIN, says: --" Freo Drainage is absolutely certain." MR. SNOW says:—No Shafts to sink, consequently no expensive winding or pumping machinery needed." AND BESIDES THE REPORTS ABOVE REFERRED TO, SEVERAL GENTLEMEN HAVE VISITED THE FIELD, with a view of investing in the Company, and are PERFECTLY SATISFIED that it has not been over-estimated. . . . The cost of Winning the Coal. and Loading the Railway Trucks at the Mine, will always be very low on account of the great Natural Advantages the mine possesses, the estimated cost being only 4s per ton. bo that, with tho Freight added, it will at once be seen that the Company can have Absolutely Nothing to fear from Competition. With the above-mentioned advantages the Company cannot fail to ha eminently successful, and the Directors therefore Confidently Recommend it to the Investing public. Preference will be given to applications for Smaller Number of Shares. Money received for shares not allotted will be repaid to the applicants in full. The Complete Prospectus of the Company can be obtained from the Secretary, and it will help to explain moro fully the Extraordinary Advantages possessed by this Magnificent Coal Field. From One Seam alonrf, it is estimated that over Twenty Million Tons are available— a supply sufficient, at the present rate of consumption of this class of coal, for nearly 200 years. This company Offers, therefore, not only a most profitable, but an absolutely Secure Investment for very many years, and any person taking up 10 Shares only may become a Shareholder. And as it is not intended to call up more than Two Shillings per Share, after all Shares are allotted—and the first Call of Sixpence to be paid Six Months after the Company is registered— Terms will be in favour of the Poorest Householder sharing in the benefits and immense profits to which Shareholders will be entitled Indeed, the Vendor is now so confident that the Company's Profits cannot help being very large that he desires to forego 10.GCO Paid-up Shares and the £500 Cash, on condition that he receives in lieu thereof only One-third the balance of possible profits remaining, after the Shareholders have been paid a Dividend of Ten per cent, annually, and this offer will be submitted to the Shareholders at their first meeting. ; Samples of Coal can be seen and obtained at the Office of the Secretary. I PLEASE NOTE: —Exchange must be added to country cheques.
