THE HOMES OF THE WORKERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—The lady who is inquiring into the l condition of the poor in this city and making i it known through youi columns is doing 7 a good work. She has uncovered plague • spots that are a disgrace to any community, - and out city authorities deserve severe cen- - sure for allowing those seed beds of im- - morality and crime to exist. It is the city s authorities and the landlords who are re--3 sponsible for the wretched housing of these a poor people. The lady considers them exs travagant in their food, but with four oi five f mouths to feed and bodies to clothe there q is surely very small margin for waste, and i, as to her assertion that • little over 10s will s support r family of five per week,"* Sill she lf kindly state how it should be laid out?—l e am, etc., E. if I October 17.
