MAGNIFICENT METEOR.
[by TEI.EGP.APtt.— association.] Blenheim Wednesday. A magnificent meteor was observed just' before twelve o'clock last night. A bril-.j liaufc orb larger than the full moon, and of! startling intensity, swept across the sky I from south-west to north-west, followed by; a broad and lengthening track of multi-'-coloured light, bursting into a dazzling stream of light. At sea the display was superb. Captain North says that in 40 years' nautical experience ho has seen no-: thing so imposing.
From Whangarei it is reported that'; about half-past eleven p.m. on Tuesday, night a brilliant meteor was seen to fall, i The meteor, which it is said took the shape' and colour of the moon, burst like fire- ' works, and illuminated the whole township momentarily.
