UNDESIRABLE CHARASTERS WELLINGTON.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION-.] Wellington, Wednesday. There appears to be a large number of undesirable characters frequenting Wellington at present, and burglaries, chieflv of a minor character, are reported almost daily and remain undetected. During his temporary absence from town the residence of Mr. Abercrombie. manager of the North Queensland Insurance Company, was taken possession of by a number of individuals, who played havoc with the premises,*- sleeping, in the beds, helping themselves to food and wines, and generally behaving in a hilarious and reckless manner. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. The forcible Entrance of business premises and private houses by the thieves and miscellaneous ruffians who infest this town (remarks the Times) appears to be now carried out with entire disregard of the measure of police protection supposed to be posi sessed by citizens.
