■ The friends of Mr. J. H. Phillpot are tendering him (i concert in the Choral Hall on Friday evening. The members of committee are working hard, and have arranged a good programme. In our advertising columns will bo found the Auckland Liedortafel programme for tomorrow night. This is the opening concert | of the 13th season, and whilst the society have every reason to bo plaased with Hie support accorded them in the past, it is very necessary that their subscribers' fist should bo increased. The committee are arranging for considerable outlay this season in new special music from America, and are also arranging for an orchestra for their second concert, when it is their intention to perform "The Desert."
