GREY LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
As ordinary meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council was held last evening under the presidency of the" Mayor (Mr. J. W. Shackelford), the other members present being Messrs. Thomas, J. Farrell, J. Carrie, J. R. Lundon, W. Donald, Dimery, W. W. Dumper, J. A. "vYarnork and W. S. Smith.
Cox's ('reek Bridge: It was stated by the. Mayor that, acting upon his suggestion, Messrs. J. A. Warno'-k and J. R. Lundon, together with Mr. }!. T. Warnock (exMayor), paid a visit to the reserve inside Cox's Creek bridge, in company with the Hon. T. Y. Duncan. Mr. Lundon. who was called upon to report upon the visit, said it was not easy to obtain anything of a definite nature from a. Minister, but he believed, from what Mr. Duncan had said, that in due course 22 acres would be gazetted and handed over fo the Grey Lynn Borough Council.
A Sanitary Matter: The clerk, reported, in reference to the nightsoil contract, that he could not get any definite information as to when tho enamel pan system would bo introduced. It was decided, on the proposition of tho Mayor, to refei the matter to a committer consisting of Mr. Lundon, the Mayor and llio town jlork. to obtain full details and report to a special meeting to be held on Friday evening. Harbour "Board: A communication was received from the secretary of tho Marine Department in respect to repcsentiition on the Harbour Board, stating that legislation dealing with the election of Harbou. Board members was proposed to bo introduced. Refuse Contract: Further discussion respecting the refuse contract was deferred until the meeting on Friday night. Footpath?: On the motion of the Mayor a largo number of applications fo» the repairing of footpaths and crossings wore referred to t'ue Streets Committee, who were* empowered to net in ca-es where no heavy expenditure was required. Culvert over Cox's Creek: A communication was received from the City Council in respect to the culvert over Cox's Creek in Richmond Road. A permanent culvert 30ffc in width, at a cost of £900, was proposed. Mr. Lundon stated that elaborate plans for a proper structure had been prepared, and the old Council had approved them. The Mayor of Auckland bad promised to visit the place next Friday. It was decided, on Mr. Lundon's proposition, to take no action until plans were submitted.
