LADY'S SAD SUICIDE.
TRAGIC ENDING TO A HARROGATE
ROMANCE.
Particuxabs of a sad case of suicide come from Harrogate. For the past year and ahalf, it appears, Miss Florence kellner, 25, daughter of tfie proprietor of Horst College, at Pannal, had been engaged to a gentleman in Harrogate, and he left that town four or five weeks ago- His departure considerably upset the young lady, and she shot herself under the heart with a six-chambered revolver belonging to her father, dying next morning after twelve hours' intense agony, during which she at intervals begged of those around her to let her die. The circumstances of the tragedy were narrated at the inquest. Mr. Kellner, to whom the coroner tendered the sincere sympathy of the jury and himself, said that he went to look for his daughter, and on entering her room found her. with the left side of her dress to the width of the hand on fire. "What have you been doing, child?" he exclaimed, and set to extinguish the fire with his fingers. She murmured, " Let me alone*; I want to die!" Dr. Holroyd was quickly in attendance, and remained until the time of death, which was caused by a wound from a revolver shot.
The coroner: How is the revolver accounted for?
Witness : I had it before she was born. It has always been in a drawer in inv bedroom, and no one but myself, my wife, and my daughter knew of its existence. Five of the six chambers were always loaded, and as there are still three loaded two must have been fired. She was engaged to a Harrogate young num. and he has turned out a thorough scoundrel. From what we have heard since of him Harrogate became too hot for him, and lie suddenly vanished from Harrogate to nobody knows where. The jury returned a verdict of "Suicide whilst of unsound mind," and added an expression of their profound sympathy with the young woman's parents.
