AUCKLAND BOWLING CLUB.
WITHDRAWAL FROM THE ASSOCIATION. A WELL-ATTENDED meeting of members of the Auckland Bowling Club was held in the pavilion, Grafton Road, last evening, to consider the question of withdrawing from the Auckland Bowling Association in consequence of the dispute in connection with the pennant contests.
A long letter was read from the hon. sec. of the association (Mr. 11. C. Haselden), setting forth the reasons why the Tournament Committee, to whom the matter had been referred for their decision, had declared that the Auckland and Devouport Clubs' teams were on equal terms for the pennant, and a deciding match would have to be played to decide possession. The Auckland Club then protesting and infusing to play off, the Tournament Committee adjudged the Devoiiport Club the rightful winner of the pennant. The matter was discussed at some length. Mr Monnie then moved, 'That the Auckland Bowling Club hereby withdraw, and resigns forthwith all connection with the Auckland Bowling Association, and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the secretary of that association." The motion was seconded by Mr. MeCallttm. Mr. Ban me moved, as an amendment, "That the question be deferred for three months," and this was seconded by Mr. L. Myers. On being put to the meeting the amendment was lost, the resolution for withdrawal from the association being carried. During the evening a presentation was made to the winners of the champion fours /Messrs. McCallum. Buttle. Garland, and Dingle, each of whom received a handsome gold medal, suitably inscribed.
