OHAUPO. AT the meeting of the local branch of the Waikato Farmers' Club, Mr. Miller gave notice of motion for next meeting, That, in the opinion of this branch, tho time has arrived when we should secede from the Cambridge parent club and affiliate direct as a branch with the New Zealand Farmers, Union; and that members of other branches, be cordially invited to take part in the debate." The secretary was instructed to invito the president of tho parent club to be present. TE AROHA. THE first football match "of the season under the auspices of the Piako Rugby Union -was played on Saturday, when To Aroha met Waihou at Waihou. The game was won by the home team by 8 points to 3. Harrison scored a. try for Te Aroha, the shot at goal being a failure. For Waihou Johnson scored two tries, one of which was converted. The game was mainly fought out by the forwards, who put great vigour into' their efforts. The backs were somewhat unreliable. Timmins, who played as full for Waihou, showed considerable promise, being very cool and steady, and getting the ball away even when surrounded by opponents. From start to finish the game was most evenly contested, and Waihou owed their win rather to a mistake on the part of a To Aroha back than to any general superiority. Mr. E. A. Power acted as referee in a satisfactory manner. The contract for the building cf the butter factory at Waihou has been obtained by Messrs. Mackie and Dudley, of Te Aroha. KARANGAHAKE. THE anniversary of the Karangahake United Sunday-schools (Methodist. Presbytarian, and Anglican) was celebrated at Montgomery's Hall on Sunday last. The services were conducted in the afternoon by the Rev. Patnllo, of Waihi (Rresbvterian), and in the evening bv the Rev. Godbehear, of Karangahgke (Methodist). Under the leadership of Mr. .1. McGregor, the children, assisted by a large choir and orchestra, rendered a care-fully-T)renn v red selection of sacred pieces, to the great enjoyment of all. A very successful ; meeting in connection with the anniversary was held on Monday night. There was a large and enthusiastic audience. The Eev. .T. Helton, of Paeroa. was chairman, and addresses were given by the Revs. B. E. Godbehear and .T. MoArthur. An apology for absence from the Rev. J. P. Cowie was received. A number of prizes were distributed to scholars whose diligence in Bible study or regularity of attendance seemed to merit such a distinction. The report and balance-sheet presented showed the school to be in a highly satisfactory condition. The number of scholars on the roll was 152. with an average attendance of 90. The library, containing 266 bonks, is much appreciated, and a quantity of religious periodical literature has been in circulation among the children. The financial working of the rear has resulted m a credit balance of £18 lis lid.
