PROPOSAL TO SEND A TEAM HOME. [BY TJSMGBAIi'B.— ASSOCIATION.] • WELLINGTON, Friday. THE annual moating of the New Zealand Eugby Football Union was held this evening. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, referred to the advances made since the first annual meeting of the union eleven years ago. He lipped the annual fixture between the North and South Islands would continue to be looked forward to by all footballers. The proposal to send a New Zealand team homo involved a big undertaking, but there was no reason why the scheme should not be brought to a successful issue next year. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows Patron, Lord ftanfurly (subject to acceptance);' president, Mr. 0. P. C. Campbell (Wellington); vice-presidents, Messrs. A. E. Devore (Auckland), A. K. Q. Rhodes (Canterbury), J. Hutchinson fOtago), W. Epson (Wanganui). D. J- Evans (Westland), •E. M. Whatman (.Wairarapa), P. Logan (Hawke's Bay), Alt'. Baylcy (Tarahaki), J. G. Hankins (Horowhenua), AY. Duncian (.Uanawatu), J. K. Emuson (bush districts). W. B. Miller (Poverty Hay), C. K. Harden (Duller), 11. Warden, jun. (Marlborough). W. S. Litflejohn (Nelson), D. Thomas (South Canterbury). A. F. Hawke (Southland); secretary, Mr. A. C. Morris (reelected); treasurer, Mr. I. Hyanis (re-elected); Committee of Management, Messrs. G. 11. Dixon, G. C. Fache, A. Campbell, W. Coffey. It. H. Isaacs. D. D. Weir, and A. Laurenson. Mr. De Ccsta (Tarannki) moved, "That in the opinion of this union it is desirable in the interest of the game that the larger unions, when implied to, should assist the country unions by allowing a reasonable percentage of sate receipts towards representatives" travelling expenses, and that this expression of opinion be conveyed to all affiliated unions." The motion was lost. In reply to a question, t!io secretary stated that the union had asked affiliated unions to forward the mimes of players who were willing to go Home a? New Zealand representatives on condition that the rule? as to professionalism were complied with. Replies received tip to the present wore to the following effect:--Auckland, forwards 8, backs 4: Canterbury, forwards 4, backs 5: MmJboroiurU. forward 1: Manawatu, forward j, backs 4; South Canterbury, forwards 2, backs .5: total, forwards 16, backs 16. As regards financing the toutno definite proposals had yet been made pending the receipt of reliable information as to the probable amount of gate receipts It would he a matter for the incoming committee to continue negotiations, and devise soma scheme for sending a team. Last year he bad slated that a gentleman in Wellington was willing to assist tho project to the extent of £Suso. ami hv had no doubt the Offer was Still Rood.
