The Customs official raised an objection to his landing, whereupon the Sultan replied, "Very "yell, I won't buy any more horses from this beastly country." The matter was; afterwards satisfactorily arranged.

THE FEDERAL CUSTOMS ACT.
Melbourne, May 1. Nothing will be done by the Federal Government to alter the existing Customs administration until the second Abrahams' appeal case is decided on Wednesday, It is expected that the judge will consent to its being referred to the Full Court. If the latter upholds the decision in the first case, the Government will "have to introduce fresh legislation in the coming session.
The Federal Attorney-General states that there is a very remote prospect of the Navigation Law being considered next session.

Hob art, May 1. Mr. Reid has opened his Taimianian campaign in the interests of free trade, and a sound revenue tariff. He addressed a great meeting in the Town Hall.
