GREY, LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council, adjourned from Easter Monday, was held last evening, ther- being present: The Mayor (Mr. E. T. Wamock), Messrs. C. MoMaster, E. Hall, E. C. Foster, J. Brinsden, A. White, and A. Donald. Cox's Creek Bridge: Mr. White, referring to fas proposed expenditure cm the new bridge at Cox's Creek, said it was unfortunate that it was intended to proceed with the work, as the winter war coming on, as ttub would mean an additional expenditure of about £100. The Mayor referred to some criticisms passed on this proposed work by a meeting of ratepayers last week, and said it appeared to be assumed that the matter was a new one. This, as all councillors knew, was not so as the present bridge had been declared dangerous by the City Council's engineer some six months ago. The plans were prepared by the city engineer, and' as soon as they were received by the Borough Council they were dealt with. He referred to the. dangerous state of the bridge, and said that recently an accident with a 'bus, containing 20 or 30 people, was only narrowly averted by the coolness of the driver. Mr. Foster said: the Council's share of the interest on the cost of the new bridge (which will be jointly borne by the City and Borough Councils and the Electric Tramways Company) would be 10s a week. After a few other remarks the matter dropped. Great North Road: A committee consisting of the Mayor and Messrs. White and MoMaster, was appointed to meet representatives of the Archhill Road Board in reference to matters connected with the present works on the Great North Road. The Sanitary Service: The Auckland Sanitary Company notified that the new pan system would be inaugurated in three weeks from date. Mr. Foster moved, "That the penalties provided for non-compliance with the terms of the contract be enforced." Mr. MoMaster moved, as an amendment, "That the enforcement of penalties commence three weeks from date." The amendment was Carrie—. Ward Accounts: A statement of accounts prepared by the town clerk showed that for the year ended November, 1901, the following amounts had been expended on streets and footpaths in the three wards: —Surrey £536; Sussex, £237; Richmond, £184
