It proposes to make the tax fourpence and ninepence, instead of ' fourpence and sixpence. The debate stands adjourned. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN HARVEST. Adelaide, February 12. The Register estimates the harvest ait 7,800,000 bushels, an average of six bushela,;, which will leave an exportable surplus oil 130,000 tons. BUTTER TESTS. (Received February 13, 1.6. a.m.) Sydney, February 12. At the recent Inter-State Dairy Confer* ence, it was left to the several States tat make tests as to the best temperature foe the carriage of butter. The New SoutW Wales expert's tests show that on an average butters kept at a temperature of 23 degrees Fahrenheit and under were better at the end of six weeks than those at front 32 to 35 degrees. The difference worked out shows a' gain of about 2s a hundredweight in value in England. Pasteurisecv butter kept as well at 32 degrees as 23' degrees. * ~•'.,' .',,- SYDNEY STOCK SALES.
