My London correspondent, writing by the last mail, says : —Grand opera has ended for this year. At Coveat Garden the season—as outside—has been by no means a brilliant one. True, Melba and Calve were there in their best form. So was Von Rooy, but with neither Fames nor Temina present in the soprano roles, Jean de Reszke or Tamaeno among the tenors, or Edouard de Reszke among the basses, there was the inevitable sense of " something wanting." The real feature of the season just over was the entree of the two new and really great Italian artistes who sang in the genuine pure old Italian style. Pacini (soprano) and Caruso (tenor) are the finest fresh artistes we have had for many a long day, and through their presence we were able to enjoy some welcome revivals of some of tho dear old melodious operas. Custard entirely without eggs; a choice dainty dish, with fruit, fresh or prcsorved. Tucker's custard powder. Four packets in. each 64 box. Four flavours make four pints. THE SECRET OF SUCCESS. In giving the best value for the money, you must ebmu to the front. Skeatcs and Bockacrt know this; they sell the best bicycles in Auckland.
