LONG DISTANCE SWIMMING.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. London, September 12. Holmes started to swim from Dover to Calais, but abandoned the attempt after two hours, owing to squally weather coming on. Madame Isacesen swam down the Danube from Melk to Vienna in 12* hours.
