The favoured few that have been j permitted to penetrate the fastnesses of | these exclusive Caucasians tell of a country * rich in vegetable and mineral wealth, a people skilled in the various domestic crafts, orderly, gentle, and hospitable, but well enough satisfied with their little world to resent the intrusion of the strenuous civilisation from the outside. The whites have a city of twenty thousand | inhabitants. They are of fair complexion and very light hair, which they wear long. J The men go naked extent for a breechcloth ' and the women wear one sack-like garment which extends in fancy fringes from one shoulder to the knees. i Lieutenant De Clairmont says this race lived on Mindoro Island before the Spajiith I conquest of the Philippines.,
