There was a largo gathering in St. James Hall last night on the occasion of the distribution of prizes in connection with Hie finnual examinations to the children attending the various' Presbyterian Sabbath schools in city and suburbs. The lie v. K. Ferguson. convener of the Presbytery's Sunday-school Committee, presided, and the various ministers and superintendents of Sabbath schools were on the platform, while the hall wis crowded with children, their parents, and friends. The prizes and certificates, which were very numerous, were distributed by [Mrs. .John Raid, of St. Andrew'?, and Mrs. ,1. W. Stewart, of St. Stephen'.-- Solos were sung during the evening by Mr... Stewart and Miss Gilmer. A joint choir from St. .fames' and St. Peter's rendered several pieces, and girls from Onehunga Sabbath wiiool gave an action song. The moderator of the Presbytery (Rev. W. Gray Dixon) gave a brief address.
