WHANGAREI WATER WORKS.

The water was turned into the rcservo r on Saturday evening, the sth inst., the ■whole being rilled in about 24 hours. The reservoir is 94ft long by about 50ft wide, and 20ft deep. The walls are made of cement from the Limestone Island works. Messrs. T. Kelly and Sons, of Auckland, have done the plastering for Messrs. Newson and Coulson, contractors. The water was turned on on Monday, the 7th inst., and there was not any bursting of pipes reported. A number of the residents witnessed the testing of the works with great interest, in rute of the heavy rain which was falling at the time.
