Hawkua, Wednesday. Ma. Bobbins, for many years a councillor, was returned unopposed tor the Mayoralty. New Plymouth, Wednesday. In the S.M. (Joint this morning Bit-hard O'Donnell was fined £10 and cost's £20 7s 9d for selling liquor without a license at Tongaporutu, on the occasion of the recent regatta.

During the past season the Southland"Acclimatisation Society issued 776 fishing licenses, which is v. record. A resolution has b«en adopted recommending the Co vernment to establish a salmon hatchery and rearing ponds at the mouth of the Waiau Kivcr.
Napijkr, Wednesday. An inquest was held to-day on the Maori boy Iraia, Te Nui, who was accidentally shot at. Pakawhai on Monday when playing with a gun, and a verdict of"" Accidentally shot " was returned. : •
, - ; *, ■ Wanuantji, Wednesday. The Arbitration Court sat this afternoon and took evidence in the machinists' and typographical disputes. The Court then adjourned to Napier, where it will sit on Jrnday.
