The Bank of England returns show the reservo to be £23,460,000; coin and bullion, £32,902,000; proportion of reserves to liabilities, 44.61; circulation, £29,292,000; public deposits, £10,323,000; other deposits, £42 047,000; Government securities total £20!373,000; other securities, £26,797,000. ;.\ v MONEY MARKET. ' : Three months bills are discounted at 3 per cent.' _ 1 WHEAT. ; , The wheat markets are quiet. The American market is -weak and irregular owing to the failure of a largo operator in Chicago. Cargoes - are dull. South Australian, November shipment, 30s 3d. . . ' The sale of the cargo of wheat at 30s, advised yesterday, was a shipment now loading at Melbourne. BUTTER. There is fair . trade in butter. Colonial, 104s to I'£l6s. The Kumara's butter was landed in excellent condition. Danish is flat 108s to 109s 9d. CHEESE. Cheese is firm and .unchanged. RABBITS AND HARES. Rabbits are firm at B£u to 9d, owing to light shipment. Hares are neglected. SUGAR. Sugar is firm. German, 6s 6d; first marks, 8s 3d. '• V METALS. Copper is firmer.
