AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. The market was quiet yesterday. In investment lines stocks had fair demand at late prices. In mining lines May Queen Haurakis sold at 6d. For Monowais buyers offered 2s Bd, sellers 3s. In Upper Thames lines Komata Reefs were looked for at Is, sellers Is 2d. Tairua Broken Hills were a shade easier at 3s lOd sellers, buyers 3s 3d. Waibis had steady inquiry at" £6 6s, sellers £6 10s. In other lines late prices ruled. TE PUKE GOLD REEFS (LIMITED). The large stone from t-lje Te Puke Gold Reefs mine exhibited in Messrs. Skcates Brothers' window weighed 1601b. From this was taken 401b weight, which was assayed by Mr. Charles Ratjen for the following result:—Gold, £100 4s; silver, £2 8s; total, £102 12s per ton. WAIHI REEFS 6.M. CO. A branch lode has been struck in the Waihi Reefs Gold Mining Company's shaft 35ft below No. 3 level. Gold is occasionally seen in the stone. BARRIER REEFS G.M. CO. Assays of the tailings at the Barrier Reefs Gold Mining Company's battery, made by Mr. J. A. Pond, the samples being taken from various points and depths, have revealed a value of £1 17s per ton. Based on that average the estimated value of the tailings in the pit is £20,000. It is considered that the . tailings can be treated with the addition of filter process to the present plant at a cost which will leave a profit of £10.COO. KURANUI G.M. CO. The rise on the leader is now up a distance of 26ft. There is a very great improvement in the appearance of the lode at present, owing to getting clear of a hard belt of ground which bus turned the lead right over and split it up into stringers. It is now on its proper underlie, and is in better country than any previously met with. The leader at present will average about 12in with indications of improving as the rise advances.
