[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] COROMANDEL. THE Coromandel Wesleyan choi. proceeded to Opitonui on Saturday afternoon, to hold a concert in aid of the circuit funds. There was a good attendance, and a lons, programme was successfully carried out. The Rev. A. Mitchell conducted divine service on Sunday morning, in the hall, a <rood number of the folks turning out to the service. A public meeting; was held in the Council i social hall en Monday evening, for the purpose ot rescinding two preview resolutionsfirst, that the Queen Victoria rrernorial tablet be erected in the public school; and. secondly, that the unveiling cerenionv take place on the King's Birthday. After conI siderable discussion, both resolutions were rescinded. The following resolution was unanimously carried:—" That the memorial tablet to the memory of our late beloved I Queen be erected on the vacant triangle alloti ment in front of the post oliice, and be constructed of Coromandel granite." A strong committee was elected to carry out the j work, and all the ladies present greed to | take round subscription lists in aid of the object.
