GREY LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council was held last evening, tho Mayor (Mr. R. T. Warnock) occupying the chair, thero being also present: Messrs. J. Farrell, R. C. Foster, A. Donald, W. White, J. Rosser and T. Booth.
Electric Lighting: A communication was received from Mr. P. M. Hansen suggesting a conference with delegates from the Council with the electrical engineer (Mr. Carey) and himself concerning the proposal now under the consideration of the Council for lighting the borough with electricity. Consideration of the letter was deferred.
Cox's Creek Intake: The Minister for Lands (Hon. T. Y. Duncan) wrote proposing that the Council petition that the intake in Cox's Creek be put among the boundaries of the borough. A letter following on the same lines was also received from Sir Joseph Ward. The Mayor said that during his short stay in the South he interviewed Sir Joseph Ward anent the intake and he referred him to the Minister for Lands. On looking up Mr. Duncan that gentleman considered that it was only proper that tho area of marsh land should be included in the boundaries of the borough with a view to a possibility of it being utilised by reclamation for a recreation ground. Ho moved, " That the Council ask His Excellency the Governor to gazette the area in question as the property of the Richmond Ward of the Borough of Grey Lynn." The motion was agreed to. Rose Road: It was decided to do certain temporary repairs to the lower end of Rose Road.
