COROMANDEL WESLEY AN CIRCUIT.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Coromandel, Thursday. The September quarterly meeting of the Coromandel Wesleyan circuit was held on Monday in the vestry. Representatives from the various places in the circuit, and Mr. E. J. Tylee, were present. The Rev. A. Mitchell occupied the chair. The chief business of the evening was the invitation of a minister for the ensuing term. Very general and sincere regret was expressed that the end of the present pastor's term was fast approaching. The officials spoke in most eulogistic terms of the exemplary character and fine qualities of Mr. Mitchell and his work during the past two and a-half years. In reply, Mr. Mitchell thanked the brethren for their kind remarks, and said loyal friendships had been formed that would last for ever. A more devoted band of young people it had rarely been his lot to find. He also stated that he had received an official invitation from the Thames circuit, which he had accepted. The meeting was unanimous in its expressions of goodwill towards the pastor, and the hope was expressed that he would be very happy and successful in his new sphere. Mr. F. J. Tylee presented himself as a candidate for the Wesleyan ministry. Reports of his work in the circuit were of the most laudatory character, both as a preacher and as to his sterling character as a Christian gentleman, and on the nomination of the chairman he was heartily and unanimously recommended to the district synod to be received for training.
