OHINEMURT. JOCKEY CLUE. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Pakroa, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club was held last night, there being a very large attendance of members. Mr. W. Phillips, chairman, presided, and presented a report, which showed that the club had made a good advance during the past year. After spending £100 in improvements on the course the sum of £500 had been paid off the mortgage, thus reducing the liabilities to £300. A satisfactory balancesheet presented by the treasurer was adopted. The election of three members to the committee resulted in Messrs. Brennan, Neil, and 0. Short being appointed, On the motion of Mr. H. Poland, a vote of thanks was accorded to the secretary (Mr. Whewell) for services rendered during his term of office. It was resolved that in future the balance-sheet be printed and circulated among members a fortnight before the annual meeting. The meeting concluded after passing a unanimous vote of thanks to the chairman (Mr. W. Phillips) for the able manner in which he had conducted the business of the club, and it was generally recognised that the club had an excellent working committee, who had done everything possible to place the affairs on a sound working basis, the secretary coming in for a large share of praise for the zeal and energy displayed in working up the meetings and generally conducting the business of the club.
A Napier telegram received last night states that Nonette, Northumberland, and Rosella were reshipped to Auckland by the s.s. Te Anau, which vessel left that port yesterday. The annual meeting of members of the Takapuna Jockey Club is fixed to be held at the club's offices, Devonport, on Friday, the 18th inst.
