INANIMATE BIRD SHOOTING.

Almost perfect weather prevailed on Saturday afternoon, and a large number of shooters and their friends assembled on the grounds of the New Zealand Inanimate Pigeon Shooting Association, Epsom. The principal competition was for the Ballistite Cup, a handsome trophy presented by Messrs. E. Porter and Co., agents for the Nobels Explosive Company. The conditions under which this cup had to be shot were: Teams of six shooters from the various clubs, each shooter to fire at 30 birds, using ballistite. The posible points procurable were therefore ISO, and although this figure was not reached, still the winning score, 146 points, was an excellent one, showing marked improvement in the shooting. There have been two previous contests for this cup, in tho first of which the Eden Club were (successful. The second one was won by the Northern Club, and again on Saturday the Northern Club were the winners, so that they now take the trophy. The following is a detailed list of of the scores : — NORTHERN CLUB. First Second Third ten. ten. ten. Tl. Mr. A. C.
