THE KAURI GUM MARKET.

The following are our quotations of kauri (rum for the week ending February 12, 1901 : — White gum : Poor ordinary, £20 to £23 ; good ordinary, unpicked, £43 and upwards; superior "ordinary, £65 and upwards; East Coast (good quality), £65 and upwards; rescraped, £112 and upwards. Black gum: Nuts, £8 and upwards; mixed, £15 and upwards ; good, £48 and upwards. Remarks on market: Supplies for 12 days of February total 278 tons. The market is extremely dull and buyers do not care to operate.

Loxdox, February 12. Wool: The sales closed firmly to-day. Since the close of the last sales greasy and scoured merino, super and fine greasy crossbred, are par to id per lb higher. . For fine scoured crossbred the market was unchanged. Greasy merino, medium and inferior, and medium greasy crossbred, are par to jd per lb lower. Scoured merino, medium and inferior, is J>d , per lb lower. Medium and coarse scoured crossbred are jd per lb lower. Coarse greasy crossbred is par to id per lb lower. For slipe crossbred the market is easier. 95,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. McNICOL AND CO.'S OHACPO SALE. On Tuesday over 500 head oi cattle were yarded. With the exception of dairy cows, all classes of cattle were fairly represented. The quality was hardly up to the standard, some of the pens being a little coarse, but all sold freely at ruling prices. The demand for beef was limited, and several pens were passed. In the fat sheep, there were very few good wethers, mostly unfinished «orts, and there was a weaker demand. Heavy weights, to 12s; freezers, 18s to 193; light and unfinished, for grazing. 16s to 17s 6d. There were too many ewes, and the market was. irregular, with a decline. Best, 16s to 18s; others, 12s to 15s 6d; prime merino wethers, 15s 6d to 15s lid: and poor sorts 10s Id. Store sheep were mostly wethers and lamas. Except for good voung sheep, which about held their own. there was a decided decline, but tee bulk of the yarding changed Hands. Forward wethers, 15s 3d to 16s 7d; backward, 13s 8d to 15s Id: good young ewes. 16s Id to 18s 6d; sound, 15s 7d to 16? Id; aged, including Chatham Islanders, 5s 9d to 9s 3d; lambs. 9s lid to 123 6d. There was a medium supply of fat pies, prices being slightly easier. Medium quality is not in request, except as fowl feed, for which, there is strong inquiry. Prime milling, 2s 6d to 2s 7d; medium to good, 2s 3d to 2s od; fowl wheat, whole. 2s to 2s lid; broken and damaged. Is 8d to Is lid per bushel, sacks in. Oats: There is steady demand for all milling and prime feed lots for export. Inferior and musty sorts are difficult to place, and the local demand is somewhat restricted.
