[lir TELEGRAPH. —PRESS association.] Wellington, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce Mr. John Duthio was elected president, and Mr. Arthur Pearco vice-pre-sident. It is expected that the appointment of an Acting-Judge of the Supremo Court, to sit on tho Bench during the absence of Mr. Justico Denniston, will lie made in a few days. IIAWKRA, Wednesday, In tho Magistrate's Court, the case Gilbert v. Grant, claim for £100 damages on account of defendant's cab horses bolting, by which plaintiff sustained injuries, Mr. Kenny held that negligence on the part of the defendant was proved, and awarded £75 damages.
