THE W.C.T.U. AND THE SOCIAL EVIL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— your report of yesterday's convention there is a small error crept in which I wish you would permit me to correct. It was I who called the convention's attention to Mr. Hannan's good work, and I strongly recommended that lie lie backed up, as I thought from the published report of the Council's proceedings that there was a disposition on the part of a majority of the councillors to hare the whole matter shunted. This suggestion of mine was unanimously approved of, and .1 motion was submitted and carried that the W.C.T.U. should address a letter to the City Council on the matter. My only object in writing h that Mr. Hannan should not be placed in a false position as to how the matter came to be discussed at the convention.—l am, etc., William Richardson. 420, Queen-street.
