AUCKLAND. MESSES. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. Grain, seeds, horse feed: Business has been steady, and supplies sufficient for requirements. Average sales hare been made, and the previous week's rates maintained. We quote: Maize, on wharf 2s 3d, ex store 2s 6d; feed oats, Is lOd; seed oats. Is lOd to 2s; dun oats, Is 9d to Is lOd per binhel; bran, £3 17s 6d per ton; oaten chaff,good samples £1 lbs to £2 per ton, inferior (very dull of sale) 12s 6d to 15s per ton. Howes were brought forward in slightly increased numbers, and there was a steady demand. Competition was good on Friday, at the Durham Yards, and most of the lots were cleared. We quote: Heavy draughts, from £15 to £30; medium draughts, £12 to £17 10s: light harness horses, £4 10a to £11 10s; hacks, £3 10s to £9 15s.

Wool, hides, skins, tallow, hones: The Remand for hides has continued brisk, and prices have been fully maintained, which would still have been the case had larger quantities come forward. We quote: iixtra stout ox hides, 43d to 5Jd; stout ox, 4d to 4Jd; steer and cow, 3d to 33d; picked cow, 4d; stags', 23d to 3d; kip, 3id to 33d; calfskins, old to 4Jd lb; tallow, 15s to 17s 3d owt; rough fat, lid lb; bones, £3 to £3 5s ton; sheepskins, small lOd to 2s 3d, medium 26 6d to 3s 3d, large 3s 6d to 4s 9d; wool, pieces 2d to 33d. Cattle: At the Newmarket Yards on Duesdav dairy, fat, and store stock were yarded in usual prices. Beef sold scarcely up to last week's prices. We quote: Fat oxen at from 16s to 19s per 1001b; cows. 14s to 16s; steers sold at from £5 2s 6d to £8 12s 6d; cows, £3 15s to £6 2s 6d; dairy cows brought from £3 15s to £5 17s 6d; dry cows, £1 12s to £2 6s; grown steers. £3 17s to £4 Bs.

At Tnakan on Wednesday, the new yards wore completely filled, and there was a large attendance and spirited competition np to fully Newmarket rates. At Waiuku, on Saturday, dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers. Dairy cows brought up to £6 7s 6d, steers from £3 5s to £4 12s 6d. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were well filled, nnil those of good quality improved on last week's rates. Fat wethers sold at from 10s 6d to 18s 6d each; uitto ewes, 10s to Ms 9d. Pigs scarce, and wanted. Porkers sold at from 17s to £118s each; weaners, 8s to 14s 6d. MESSRS. A. AUCKLAND AND SONS' EEPOBT. At the Haymarket auction meadow hay was from Is 6d to 2s 6d cwt; oaten sheaves, Is 3d to Is 9d; straw, 16s to 22s load; potatoes, 29s to 37s ton; chaff, inferior, 12s to 265, ex store; dun oats, Is lid bushel; white Tartar, 2s 3d; wheat, 2s 4d; bonedust, £6 ton; guano, £3 10s; chaff, 40s to 455; maize, on wharf, 2s 3d and 2s 4d bushel. On Friday draught horses were in demand. Heavy draught brought £20 to £28 each; medium draught, £13 to £15 10s; light harness, £5 to £10 10s. On Tuesday hides, in full number, wore at late values. Ox hides brought from 3Jd to sjd lb; oow hides, 3}d to 4d; stag, 2jd; kip, 33d; calf, 33d to 51d; horse hair, Is 3d to Is; fat. lid; fat, 16s to 17s 6d cwt; bones, 3s 3d; fresh skins, 3s Id to 4s 2d each; dry skins, Is to 3s 8d; locks, 2d lb.

At Eemuera, on Thursday, dairy cows, in usual number, were at late values. Prices were from £4 to £6 oach. Store cattle, in full number, Bold freely. Three to 4yr steers brought from £3 63 to £5 5s each; dry cows, up to £2 6s. Calves, yarded numerously, were required. Young calves from 2b to 5s each; medium, 9s to 15s; heavy, up to £112s; 74 sold. Fat cattle, in moderate supply (190 yarded), were better worth. Prices wore from 17s to l?a 1001b. Steers were from £6 10s to £9 2s 6d each; cows, £3 to £5 2s 6d.

Sheep, yarded in full number, were lower in value than at late sales from Is to 2s each. Prices for wethers were from 9s 6d to 16s 9d; ewes, 7s 9d to 12s; 1300 sold. A few lambs (first of the Benson) brought from lis 6d to 15s each.

On Tuesday wo again sold it large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, etc. Hides: Extra stout sold from 5d to BJd; stout, 4Jd to 6d; medium, 4jd; light, 3Jd to 4d. Cow and kips are in strong demand; good lines sold from 4d to 4?, d; picked, 4jjd; kips, 33(1 to lid; calf, 4Jd for well-flayed lines; stags'. 2jd to 3d; damaged and cut hides, 2d to 3d per lb. Sheepskins: Coarse are easier, fine wools firm; large sold up to 4s 4d, ordinary, 3s to 3s 6d; salted pelts, from Is 3d to Is 6d each. Tallow: Picked, for tanners' use, £1 2s; good, from 16s to 17s; rough fat, lid per lb. Hair: Horse, tail Is 3d to Is Id, inane lOd to 10id; cow, tail, 9d to 9Jd per lb. Cow tails, Is Sd to Is lOd per dosen.

Rones: £3 5b to £310s per ton. Bonedust: Runcorn. Al, sacks £6 5s to £6 10s, cwt bags, £6 10s to £6 15s. NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY (LIMITED). Auckland Wool Stores, August 23. We offered a large catalogue at our Tuesday's sale. Prices ruled at last week's rates. We quote: Hides: Stout ox, 6id to 6d; heavy to medium, 4Jd to sd; light, 33d to 4Jd; cow; 33d to 4d; dry, to 41d; calf, 4d to 4jd; kip, 31d to 3?d; stags', 2jd tier lb. Sheepskins: Large, 3s 6d to 4s 3d; small and medium, 2e 3d to 3s 3d eacji. Tallow: Best rendered, 16s to 17s 3d; mutton, to 19s per cwt. Maize: The market is firm at 2s 3d on wharf.

Oats: Shipments by tho last steamor from the South were somewhat smaller than usual, and have now gone to store. Present quotation, Is lOd. Potatoes are worth £2 5s on the whan'. Chaff remains at £2 at rail for wholesale linos.

STRATFOED. OKAIAWA, A.ND HAWERA, The Egmont Farmers' Union, Limited, Hawera, report on August 17: At Stratford 011 the 10th inst., there was a smaller yarding of stock than usual. Bidding for young cattle was brisk, whilst larger sorts were dull of sale:—Two to 2i-year steers, £2 15s to £3 10s; dairy cows and heifers, £3 to £4 18s 6d; empty heifers. £1 19s to £2 8s; weaners, 18s to £1 4s On the 15th inst. we held a clearing sale on account of Mr. H. Belts, of Okaiawa. The stock were of good quality and realised satisfactory prices throughout. Dairy cows, £3 10s to £7 12s 6d; dairy heifers, £3 to £5 2s 6d; 18-month steers. £2 Us; 18-months heifers. £1 18s 6(1; yearlings, £1 lis; horses, £4 to £18 7s 6d. At Hawera, on the 17th inst., the yards were well filled with both cattle and sheep. The attendance was large, but owing to the scarcity of grass, bidding was not so keen as we expected, but we anticipate an improvement in the near future. Although several lines were passed at the hammer, we tucceeded in placing most of the stock before leaving the yards. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs. Freeman It. Jackson and Co., in conjunction with Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Johnsonville, report 011 Aug. 15:— Cattle came forward in moderate numbers, but owing to the purchases made outside during the week, proved rather many for the market. The demand for prime quality, however, was brisk and firm, beef ox beef making 18s. Anything below this standard was dull of sale. A good many of the cattle yarded showed signs of having fallen away in condition. Cattle: Prime bullocks made £7 5s to £8; medium bullocks, £6 12s 6d to £6 15s; poor quality, £5 5s to £5 10s. Sheep Fat sheep were in fair supply. Good and second-rate qualities made satisfactory rates. Stores found buyers at low values. Heavy prime wethers, 15s 4d to 16s 7d; good wethers, 14s 7d to 158; prime ewee, 13s 2d; medium, lis lid; second-rate ewes, 10s to 10s 3d; stores, 9s sd; store wethers, 10s 6d. Pigs: Pigs made fair prices.

MASTERTON. Messrs. Lowes and lorns report on their fortnightly stock sale:—At our fortnightly stock sale we have to report a smaller yarding in sheep than usual, with very few fats, and these only of medium quality, all selling at market rates. In ewes in lamb we had a good entry, and mostly of good quality, all selling at advanced prices. Hoggets penned were first-class, selling at increased' figuros. In wethers only one line offered; these also selling well. Very few cattle offered, being mostly dairy stock, and all, with th& exception of two cows, were sold. Pigs were well represented, all being cleared at fair rates. Medium fat ewes and wethers made 10s 2d; store wethers, lis; hoggets (best), 10s; others to Bs, ewes in lamb (best), lis 6d; others, 10s 6d, 10s 4d, 10s, 9s 6d; dairy cows and heifers, according to age, quality, and nearness to profit, £5 down to £2 lis; store pigs, 13s to 16s; weaners, 8s to 9s; young boar, 335. WANGANOI. Messrs. Freeman B. Jackson and Co. report on August 16;-We had a moderate entry of cattle at our St. Hill-street sale to-day, chiefly young stock and dairy cattle, the bidding being fairly brisk. Good springing heifers and cows were keenly competed for. Sheep were in small supply and no improvement on last week's rates was shown. Pigs were tew in number, and were considerably easier. We quote Cattle: Weaners, 18s; 18-month steers, £1 8s; springing heifers, £2 15s to £4 2s 6d; springing cows, £4 to £6; cows in milk, £3 15s to £4 10s. Sheep: Fat wethers, lis to 12s; others, 9s to 108; _ fat ewes, 10s: forward ewes, 8s; two-tooth, mixed, 7s 6d. Pigs: Small taconers, £1 4s; porkers, 16s; breeding sows, £1 5s to £2; small pigs, 8a to 10s. - • - ■
