THE DREYFUS CASE.

THE SCHNEIDER DOCUMENT.

VIOLATION OF THE LAW.

By Telegraph. Association.Copyright. Paris, August 22. M. Labori resumed his defence in the Dreyfus case to-day. The judges, counsel, also Generals Mercier and Billot congratulated him on his recovery. He crushingly cross-cxamined several witnesses, and lifted the defence to a higher level.

Major Junck admitted, in answer to a question by M. Demange, that there was nothing suggestive of treason in Dreyfus' conduct.

Dreyfus asserted that probationers were aware in June, 1894, that they had 'not to attend manoeuvres in the autumn of that year. This explanation was made to show that he was not likely to have made the statement found in the bordereau, "Je vais partir en manoeuvres."

Paris, August 23. M. Labori severely questioned General Mercier as to how he came in possesion of the Schneider document, when he was no longer a Minister, after it reached the Ministry.

General Mercier refused to answer the question.

M. Labori declared that the law had been violated, and stated that he intended to put further questions bearing on the point.
