VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB'S MEETING. SUCCESS OF AN AUCKLAND-BRED FILLY. At the V.A.T.C. meeting Ideal, who was bred nt Wellington Park by Mr. T. Morrin, distinguished herself by winning the principal flat handicap. The following are the details of the race:— Sandiiingiiam Plate. One mile and one furlong. Mr. Pi. Maurice's ch f Ideal, by St. Loger --Bio lira, 6st 81b (Williamson) ... 1 Mr. 1). Small's I g Strathjoy, 7st 21b iMinter) 2 Mr. R. Kidman's br g Blackwood, Bst 11 lb (Wheeler) ... 3 Other starters: Disfigured, Bst 71b; Good man, 7st 81b; Trionid, 7st 71b; Kama, 7st 51b; Chorister, 7st 31b; Repeater, 6st 81b; John Bunyan, 6st 81b. Betting: 3to 1 each v. Ideal and Goodman, 6 to 1 v. Stbathjoy, 7 to 1 v. Chorister, 8 to 1 v. Disfigured, 10 to 1 v. the others. Disfigured was first off, but soon gave way to Ideal, who led along the back of the course, followed by Slrathjoy, Disfigured, Trienid, John Biinyan, Blackwood, and Chorister, with Goodman last. They entered tho straight in that order, and Ideal coming on in slashing style, won easily by a couple of length from Slrathjoy, with Blackwood a length and a-hftlf off third. Time, 2m. sjs.
