Palethohpb, late master of tie Burnliam Industrial School, Canterbury, "I a visit here in quest of land, died rather suddenly on Saturday evening, of congestion °f the lungs. The body was interred this afternoon, a number of settlers following. He was not known here, and 110 communication has yet been received from his friends. Tg Aroha, Monday. Mr. John Smardon, of the Palace Hotel, jM suddenly last night. When at a footMil match, last Saturday, he contracted a I » which developed into congestion of the lungs Deceased was well known to the 'ravelling public, and leaves a widow for om and his mother much sympathy is felt.
