[from our. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] O-'i Thursday evening last the Coromandel people were given a musical treat by the tell Choral Society. For some time past Under the conductnrsliip of Miss E. lieevc, 'lie talented Auckland musician the mem|W3 have been practising Root's cantata, The Haymakers," and the conductress and society must be congratulated on the success of the piece. All the pieces were well given W-d showed that the performers had carerally studied their parts. The choruses were fjiven with crijpness and precision, quite refreshing to hear. There were about 10 Moras singers. Miss McDonald received a veil-merited encore in the song " A Dairy Maid Am I.' ' One of the best items was the trio and chorus, " When Wandering 0 er . the Deep," the time and marks of expression j*ina> carefully noted. The quartette, "How is the Giver," was also an excellent I*" 1 " 'file orchestra was conducted by Mr. "■ H. French, and the piano accompanists were played by Mrs. French. Mr. J. ■ Rockliff, the president, in a few well®osen remarks, stated his appreciation of ° e performance, and referred to the success 'rained by Miss Reeve.
