Special services were held yesterday in the Anglican churches in connection with the Home Mission of the Diocese of Auckland, aud the offertories of the day are to be devoted to the Fund. At St. Paul's Canon Haselden, who preached in the morning, concluded his sermon by saying: "This is neither the time nor place to go into figures, but I may tell you that during last year in the Home Mission districts, 286 services were held by clergymen in full orders, 161 children were baptised, 129 celebrations of the Holy Communion were held, at which 1146 persons received the sacrament. To do this tnatiy hundreds of miles were travelled in all sorts of ways, and a great deal of work was done, which cannot be puton to paper.and the entire cost was £548. Towards this all that the parishes gave was £131. I think it must have beenfrom want of thought that it was so little, To-day, the Diocesan Missionary, the Kev. E. M. God Rtnnt, that we, for want of thought, shall not add to his burden by neglectiug to give the necessary meaus to carry on his work, She following amounts were collected at the various city churches:-St. Sepulchres, £31 8s 8d: St. Mary's, £25; St. Matthew's, £17 18s lQil: St. Paul's, £16 17s 6d. The lastmentioned contribution will be increased by amounts yet to come, and in the case of St. Sepulchre's, there is the sum of Jt'6, previously subscribed, to be added. Out of resnect to the memory of the late Rev. A. M. McCallum, the "Dead March in " Saul" was played yesterday by the organist of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, at the conclusion of the morning service, and Chopin's Funeral March at the close of the evening service. The Rev. Mr. Dallascou of Wellington, who has been furnishing ministerial supply at the Tabernacle for the past five weeks, preached his valedictory sermon yesterday to a good congregation. Iα the afternoon lie delivered an appropriate address to the Sunday school. The Rev. Mr. Woollenden, of Victoria, relieves him, and will probably continue to supply till the Rev, Joseph Clarke, pastor elect, arrives from Eugland. The latter gentleman, it in anticipated, will leave London to-day. ■ The usual evangelistic service was held last evening at the City Hall, under the auspices of the Y.M.U.A. At Devonport Presbyterian Church yesterday the pulpit was draped in black to the memory of the Rev. A. McCallum, formerly pastor of the congregation, there being also several choice wreaths. Reference was made to the late gentleman's life by the Rev. R. Ferguson, At the conclusion of the service the congregation stood while the organist, Mr. Patterson, played the."
