FIRE AT WAIHI.
[it TELKQBAPH.— own correspondent.] Paeroa, Saturday. A fire occurred at Waihi aboub two o'clock this morning, which resulted in the total destruction of Mr. J. Newdick's bakery, together with the contents, including about two tons of flour. The firo was Arab noticed by the bracetnan ab tho Waihi mine, and the alarm was soon given, bub nothing could be done, in the absence of a water supply, to stay the flames. Tho posb office and adjoining buildings had a narrow escape. The bakery was owned by Mr. J. Phillips, Paoroa, and he states that the building was partially insured. Mr. Kewdick, 1 understand, estimates his loss at £100, his stock nob being insured.
