FREEMAN'S BAY RECLAMATION
At the meeting of the Harbour Board yosterday afternoon'the following petition, bearing 4200 signatures, was presented by Mr. A. E. Devore" We, the undersigned, residents of the city and suburbs of Auckland, beg raosb respectfully to eolioifc your earnesb co-operation and support in conveying to the Auokland City Council (in trust) at a reasonable coat, when applied for, the piece of land now in your possession known as the Freeman's Bay Reclamation, for the purpose of converting the same into a public recreation, ground for all. time. Although we are aware that your official duties are practically confined to providing ahd maintaining ample accommodation for the shipping trade of the port, we venture to appeal to your honourable Board, as reprosontatires of the people's interests and welfare, to extend your leniency in the direction indicated, and ' thereby remove what has for years remained a raosb objcotionable hindrance to the health and prosperity of that locality." The petition was referred to the Finance and Legal Committee to reporb upon.
