AUCKLAND AUXILIARY. Tub annual meeting of the Auckland Auxiliary of the London Missionary Society was held last evening, in tho Borosfordstreet Congregational Church. A social tea was previously held in the schoolroom, ab which 300 sat down to tea. The after public meeting, in the church, was presided over by Mr. E. Withy, there being a large attendance. After singing and prayer by the Rov. G, Rhodes, Mr. Sinceton (secretary) read the report, which showed that there was sustained interest in the work of tho Society. Owing to the visit■ of the Rev. J. and Mrs. Parker, of Mongolia, £43 6s 3d was raised towards tho purchase of a site in Mongolia, for mission premises. Tho Ladies Auxiliary had raised increased subscriptions, and the VVatchors Band, the Prayer Union of the Society, had increased its membership. Tho children had £27 8s for the John Williams fund, and there had boon distributed 59 books to collectors of over ss, and 79 certificates, making in all 550 half-crown shares hold in the ship in Auckland district, taken up in two yoars. Four of the schools by contributing over £10 each were entitled to a picture of the ship. The receipts from all sources showed an increase upon last year of £20 Bs, making a total of £158 15a 9d, being the largosb amount yet raised by the auxiliary in one yoar. Pleasure is expressed at the visit of Captain Horo and tho Rev. J. King in the now ship, and at the prospect of celebrating the centenary of the Socioty during the ensuing year. The treasurer (Mr. Dykes) road the balance sheob, which showed" the receipts to bo £15815s 9d, and balanced by expenditure on various objects and cheques to the Society. The following were the officers elected for the ensuing year President, Captain Daldy; vicepresident), Rev. George Burgess, F.R.A.S.; treasurer, Mr. J. Dykes; secretary, Mr. S. W. Smeeton; committee, Revs. F. Warner, B. Rhodes, C. A. Lyon. B. L. Thomas. D. McNaughton, Messrs. E. Wood, J. Potter, A. Paterson, W. H. Lyon, C. E. Campbell, J. E. Moore, R. Tudehope, J. Moselem, W. Crosher, J. Holdgate, H. M. Smeeeton, R. S. Abel, William Trigg, J. Craig, J. Bailey, R. Duthie, J. Bowden, J. Cranch, Mrs. Eggers, Misses Firth and Wilson. Officers, Ladios' Auxiliary ; President, Mrr,. Warner; vice-president, Mrs. Daldy ; treasurer, Mrs. Bull; and secretary, Mrs. Lyon. Some of the crew of the John Williams sang several hymns in their native tongue. Interesting addresses were given by the Rev. J. King, Captain Horo, and tho Rev. F. W. Walker. Captain Hore stated that on tho second trip in the year to tho islands the John Williams would call at Auckland. Mr. Walker gave some particulars concerning the new mission schooner being built by the Messrs. Lane Brothers ab Wnangaroa, and which he would sail over with to Now Guinea. He stated that the Messrs. Lane Brothers had acted most handsomely, and oven some of the workmen gave several days' labour free as a contribution to the mission. A collection was taken up on behalf of the mission fund. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the proceedings. . . . A mooting of the Ladies' Auxiliary was held in the afternoon, in the schoolroom. Mr. F. Warner presided, and introduced Mrs. Hore, who gave an interesting address to the large assemblage of ladies present, on " Five Years' Mission Labours at Lako Tanganyika, Africa."
