ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held last night in the Borough Council Chambers. Present): The Mayor (Mr. D. A. Sutherland), and Messrs. Jackson, Nixon, Colledge, Hills, Wad©, Shaldrick, McKenzip, Burden, and Hutchison.
Metal.— Streets Committee reported that benders for metal-breaking be advertised for. Mr. Hills proposed man amendment that 900 yards of broken metal be tendered for. Seconded by Mr. Nixon. Carried.
Tenders for Leasing.—A tender wa3 received for the leasing of Allen's springs, from Mrs. Hill, offering £1 ss. This was accepted. Three tenders were received for grazing, Market Reserve. Mr. Picknell's tender of £4 was accepted. For leasing the shed on the Market Reserve, one tender was received from Mr. R. Fellows, offering £4. This was accepted. Water reserve : Mr. Payne's tender was accepted, £2 being offered.
Inspector of noes—Eleven applications were received. It was moved by Mr. Jackson that Mr. C. K. Jeffe be appointed to the position. Carried. Drainage.—Mr. Burden moved that the former resolution regarding the taking up of drains be rescinded. Carried.
Water Supply.—Mr. Jackson moved, " That this Council having noticed in the public press the proposal to supply water to a large portion of the County of Eden, desires as a Trust Board of the Water Reserve at Onehunga to express its willingness to assist in any way in the promotion of such a desirable object, or in any smaller scheme." This was seconded by Mr, Hutchison, and agreed to.
