POLICE COURT.—Tuesday. [Before Mr. 11. W. Northcroft, S.M.) Bad Company.—Mildred Ellis, a girl 14 years and 9 months old, was charged with being the associate of reputed prostitutes. The girl was nob in custody. Sergeant (Gamble informed the Court that tho case had been adjourned, as the girl had agreed to go to the Salvation home. She did go there, but cleared out the sam« day, and a fresh warrant was issued for her apprehension, but she had not been seen since. He asked for a remand till Saturday next, which was granted.
Cattle Stealing. — Haki Takaramani was brought up and charged thab between the Ist and 30th April, 1894, at Miranda, he feloniously stole two bullocks, valued at £18, the property of Pita Matahaera. Mr. Wynyard appeared for the accused. Sergeant Gamble applied for a remand for a week to Mercer. He said the accused had been arrested at Taranaki. It might at the end of the week be necessary to apply for a further remand, as he had received a telegram from Constable Hobson, of Mercer, stating that the witnesses were now scattered. Mr. Wynyard did not object to the remand, and asked that bail be allowed. The remand was granted, and bail allowed in accused's bond of £50 and two sureties of £25 each.
