Sharemarket.— sellers 2s; Cambria, sellers Is; May Queen, sellers 4s 2d ; Victoria, sellers 6d; Talisman, sales Bs, 78 9d, buyers 7s 6d; Bonanza, sellers Is 6d; Retreat, sales Bd, sellers 9d, buyers 7£d; Monowai, sellers 4s 6d. Most of the local mining companies have now resumed operations in their properties, after the stoppage for the holidays, and the remainder will make a start on Monday. The majority of the batteries, however, will not resume crushing until the middle of the week, as a little time is required to get a supply of quartz first, for prior to the stoppage all the available quartz was crushed. May Queen. —Owing to the prevalence of the holidays, the work of extending the main crosscut at No. 6 level, in order to connect with the Queen of May shaft has been retarded somewhat, and a distance of only 16 feet has been driven during the last fortnight, which distance k the result of about four days' work. The crosscut is now in a total distance of 68 feet from No. 4, reef, and is passing through a fair but firra class of sandstone country. < The work.- of timbering the chamber cub out upon Nfo. 4 reef at the point where the crosscut passed through it is still being proceed ed with, but is now nearly completed. It i.'*' intended to keep one shift only employed, in driving eastward on the reof as soon pa the timbering is completed, and also one shift upon the north-west lode, as #«o employ three shifts would entail too. much trucking of mullock at the present* juncture, and consequently would retftvd the progress of the main crosscut. Operations upon Clarken's leaden in the Savon section are now in full swing again, r .-
