Dunkdin, Friday. The Taieri County Council has resolved to retrench by reducing the wages of kUrfacemen 6d per day, members travelling expenses by one-half, and clerk and inspector's salaries by £'25 per annum each. An effort is to be made to gee the interest on the overdraft reduced. St. Paul's Parish Church was formally taken over this evening by Bishop Neville, and will in future be the cathedral. Dean Fitchett and tho canons were then installed.
